I describe the K1000, K2000 Appliances as basically Altiris on steroids. We were able to do everything we could with Altiris, but the thing is it was so much easier.

Steps to follow on the KBOX Server in preparation of upgrading to v4.2.18263

Before upgrading the K1000 appliance to V4.2.18263, our recommendation is to perform the following series of tasks:

1. Disable the following items:

- Scripting
- Patching
- Agent Provisioning
- Managed Installations
- Metering (if Asset Module is installed)

2. Change the Agent Settings.
Go to Settings -> K1000 Agent -> "Agent Updates From KACE"
Set the following settings:

Agent Run Interval = Maintain 3-4 connections per minute
Scripting Update Interval = Maintain 3-4 connections per minute
Scripting Ping Interval = Maintain 10 connections per minute (half the agent run interval)

3. Upgrade the K1000 appliance to v4.2.18263 and then apply the v4.2 Client Patch bundle.

After applying the bundle Agent Provisioning and Agent Updates will be disabled. This is by design. Re-enable your scheduled Agent Provisioning and Agent Updates to all machines or the labels/machines you choose.

Once all of your clients have been upgraded to the latest client version, the following can be re-enabled Scripting, Patching, Provisioning, Managed Installation, and Metering.
