Kace Makes Application Virtualization Move With CIM Buy

Introduction

KACE, a successful midmarket systems management appliance vendor, made another move toward expanding its virtualization capabilities with the acquisition of nascent application virtualization vendor Computers In Motion (CIM). The deal will provide KACE technology to virtualize application environments, mainly on desktops, from the underlying OS, which in theory can improve the performance, reliability, security and management of desktop applications. KACE, which has more than 700 customers and counting (mostly midmarket firms and departments of large organizations), does gain the intellectual property and developers that could enable it to take a leadership position in an innovative new space.
