Remote Site Management and Remote Administration
Bandwidth-friendly, Synchronized Remote Provisioning
With the increasing reality of multiple, remote sites within growing organizations, the ability to deploy systems from a central location is critical to reducing the time and cost associated with managing systems at these sites. Travel previously required to deploy systems can be eliminated, as can the shipment of media and systems. The K2000 offers a variety of remote site management and remote administration capabilities that allow for the effective deployment of systems at remotes sites.
K2000 Virtual Remote Appliances
K2000 virtual remote appliances allow a single centralized K2000 Deployment Appliance to stage and deploy disk images, network OS installs, drivers and applications to remote sites without the need for dedicated hardware or personnel at remote facilities. K2000 virtual remote appliances are easy to deploy and maintain, and dramatically reduce the cost and complexity of managing a multi-site organization. They include integrated virtual infrastructure allowing deployment on almost any Windows server and granular control over the timing and contents of staged deployment assets. Scheduled incremental synchronization and bandwidth throttling help minimize network utilization while keeping all remote sites updated with current deployment assets.
From the K2000 Deployment console, the administrator can stage specific scripted installations and K-images to each remote site appliance. Each deployment asset will be versioned, so administrators can easily identify what versions are staged across their network. Any changes made on the K2000 Deployment Appliance can be automatically pushed out to a remote site appliance on a configurable schedule to simplify image maintenance. The specific time of synchronization and the bandwidth utilized can be configured allowing administrators to minimize the impact on their network.
USB and CD support
It may be impractical to deploy the K2000 virtual remote appliance at some locations. KBE USB and KBE CD provides a convenient mechanism to locally boot remote systems to KBE from a USB drive or CD and then connect to the centralized K2000 for access to the full deployment library. Once connected to the central K2000 any defined deployment task can be executed on the target system. For computers that lack a good Internet connection, the K2000 allows you to include a K-image along with KBE in a USB drive. The K2000 Deployment Appliance makes it easy to generate USB or CD deployment assets from the deployment console.
Centralized Deployment Library
Whether utilizing the K2000 virtual remote appliance, KBE USB, or KBE CD, all images, network OS installations and related assets can be referenced from the centralized deployment library. This makes it much easier to ensure that outdated images or network OS installations are not deployed to systems, improving deployment reliability and saving administrators valuable time.
