Administration
Intuitive, Web-based Console
A systems deployment solution should reduce complexity, not increase it. The K2000 Deployment Appliance has been designed to be exceptionally easy to administer and maintain, and features an easy-to-use web-based interface, built-in reporting, and automated maintenance.
Web-based Interface
The K2000 Deployment Appliance console is the Web-based administrative interface that provides a unified and intuitive interface to all K2000 functionality. It includes an integrated Web-based console for centralized systems deployment and systems recovery. The secure console can be accessed via any network allowable workstation in any location, and has been designed to be exceptionally easy-to-use. It provides for remote administration of all functionality across the deployment lifecycle, and all systems deployment tasks are accomplished via a familiar tab-based user interface allowing administrators to address the breadth of their systems deployment needs. It is designed for a variety of skill levels, from new user to expert, and includes an intuitive, comprehensive search capability that enables search across entire appliance database and delivers relevant results.
Fully Integrated
By giving administrators an integrated interface for all deployment functions, the interface keeps training time to an absolute minimum and provides for quick deployment. Administrators can use it to build a reference system using scripted installation, capture and deploy gold master images, and perform recovery tasks on any system that fails to deploy properly. User interface integration across KACE appliances allows for single sign on and fast switching between the K2000 Deployment Appliances, K1000 Management Appliances and virtual remote appliances.
Reporting
The K2000 includes integrated reporting to ease systems deployment and appliance administration. Pre-configured reports cover the breadth of deployed system history, captured images, network OS installs and other categories. Users can create new reports or customize existing reports with an intuitive interface and XML, and can output report information in their choice of .html, .pdf, .txt and .csv formats. They also have the ability to utilize 3rd party ODBC compliant reporting tools (e.g., Crystal Reports) to analyze appliance collected information.
Mac OS X NetBoot
For Mac platforms
Mac OS X NetBoot allows you to execute key functions for Mac systems such as image capture and deployment through the K2000 Mac imaging utility. The intuitive graphical interface of Mac OS X NetBoot empowers administrators of all skill levels to utilize its functionality. Furthermore, the Finder interface of Mac OS X NetBoot allows it to double as a recovery tool. Java-VNC enables administrators to access Mac OS X NetBoot for any managed machine without leaving their desk.
Maintenance
The KACE appliance-based architecture provides the benefit of easy and automated maintenance that saves considerable time over competitive solutions. Each evening the appliance conducts automated maintenance such as disk defragmentation and a security audit. In addition, through a few clicks of the mouse, administrators can schedule customizable backups of deployment assets such as images, scripted installations and applications. Lastly, one-button updates make it easy to upgrade all software components of the appliance including the operating system and database. No longer is separate patching of these components necessary.
100% Agentless Architecture
The K2000 architecture features a completely agentless design that further reduces deployment and maintenance costs. The K2000 agentless PXE-based architecture allows all deployment activities to be executed remotely over the network from an integrated deployment library. This not only reduces deployment time and costs, but also improves provisioning reliability and control by ensuring that the correct image is always deployed to each target system. No longer do administrators need to fumble with DVDs and CDs trying to determine whether they contain the correct image or not.
K2000 Boot Environment (KBE)
For Windows platforms
The K2000 Deployment Appliance comes bundled with KBE (K2000 Boot Environment), an environment for performing various Windows based tasks on target machines. The easy-to-use functionality of KBE allows for local imaging, scripted installations, recovery, file browsing, and inventory collection. The K2000 Deployment Appliance console conveniently allows users to remotely access KBE through Java-VNC.
