Windows PE or BartPE? New AppDeploy(SM) Webinar Provides Answers
On-Demand Webinar Guides Windows Administrators through Pre-Installation Options
RESTON, Va. – April 1, 2008 – AppDeploySM, the Internet’s largest free online community of application and computer administrators, today announced the availability of a free, on-demand webinar that will help IT personnel make informed decisions about which Windows pre-installation environment best fits their unique needs The new, 45-minute webinar, “Leveraging Pre-Installation Environments,” will cover the pros and cons of primary pre-installation options, highlight strengths and weaknesses, as well as demonstrate the use of key tools.
A pre-installation environment consists of a minimal install of Windows that is small enough to quickly start from removable media, and can also be used as a recovery console if there is trouble during the installation process. Windows PE is Microsoft’s offering and serves as a valuable tool for Windows administrators, but alternative options such as BartPE resolve some of the restrictions deliberately imposed by Windows PE.
While one might expect Microsoft’s Windows PE to be the most widely used solution, a poll at AppDeploy shows over 40 percent of the deployment community is using the alternative BartPE solution.
