Title
How Do I Turn off Simple File Sharing Via Group Policy
Description
In order to be able provision the agent from the K1000 appliance, file sharing is used to push the installation files from the server to the client. On Windows XP, simple file sharing must be turned off to be able to push the agent to those machines. This article describes how to disable simple file sharing using Windows Active Directory Group Policy.
If you wish to use Group Policy to install the agent, please see:

Solution
The K1000 Agent (and quite a few other software packages for enterprise networks) requires Windows Simple File Sharing to be turned off. You can turn it off in one of two ways:
1. From Windows Explorer, click Tools > Folder Options > View > Advanced Settings > Use Simple File Sharing (off).
2. Via group policy:
Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security options > Network access: Sharing and security model for local accounts
Guest Only – Local users authenticate as guest - simple file sharing is enabled
Classic - Local users authenticate as themselves - simple file sharing is disabled
