ITIL - Why Size Doesn't Matter
ITIL has been heralded by many as a management lifeline for today’s IT departments. Often mistaken as a standard, ITIL prescribes a set of processes or best practices around how to implement IT. ITIL or IT Infrastructure Library is just that: a library of documents that are used to aid the implementation of a framework for IT Service Management. Emerging out of the British government's Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency (CCTA) work in the 1980’s, ITIL began seeing increased adoption in the mid 90’s, especially among larger organizations seeking a common language and best practice approach to manage their IT.
