Green KBOX Appliance Technology by KACE Saves Customers Energy and Associated Costs, Sustains the Environment

Single Server Approach, Energy Saving Features Reduce Resource Demands

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – April 16, 2008 – KACE™, the leading systems management appliance company, today announced that it has incorporated new capabilities to its award-winning KBOX™ family of systems management and deployment appliances to allow for a more green approach in helping IT organizations reduce power consumption, leading to impressive savings of both energy and money, while reducing the overall energy footprint on the environment. KBOX Remote Replication allows customers to manage multi-site configurations from a single server, without the added hardware and associated energy costs of alternative multi-server software solutions. In addition, the new KBOX Agent Messaging Protocol allows users to scale to manage ten of thousands of nodes through the efficiencies of a single appliance. This builds on the KACE philosophy of energy conservation and reduced complexity.

KACE also recently announced the availability of Virtual KBOX, a virtual appliance that delivers all of the systems management benefits of a physical appliance while leveraging the space, energy and resource savings of virtual environments. Combined with other features, such as configuration management and integrated Wake-on-LAN (WOL) capabilities of KBOX, KACE attracted Canada’s BC Hydro as a customer who in turn acknowledged KACE for its Power Smart Program of approved products and helped earn KACE a prominent place in industry analyst firm Gartner’s research on select PC Power Management Vendors.

“We are extremely proud of the green capabilities of KBOX and continue to develop our technology with energy benefits in mind,” said Rob Meinhardt, co-founder and CEO of KACE. “From our single server appliance approach, to our Virtual KBOX offering which delivers on the resource reducing benefits of virtualization, as well as energy saving features such as Remote Replication and Wake-on-LAN, we fully align our product development with ‘being green’ while continuing to deliver solutions that save our customers time and money.”

As power prices and costs to the environment continue to increase, IT organizations have made finding ways to conserve a top priority. With its unique combination of easy-to-use single server systems management and WOL capabilities, KBOX can automatically and safely power-down machines that are unused for a period of time to conserve energy. WOL allows these same machines to be automatically powered on for scheduled after-hours maintenance or remote access, if needed. These important features lower overall energy consumption and are now standard capabilities in the KBOX family of systems management and deployment appliances. With the growing complexity of managing end-node (desktop and laptop) computers and the constant threat of security breaches to businesses, enterprise-class and mid-sized organizations can trust their network is not only secure, but also energy-efficient with KBOX appliances.

Customers Demand Best Practices in IT Management and Energy Efficiency

Offering instant value and tangible ROI, KBOX deployed in less than an hour and saves Royal Liver upwards of $120,000 yearly in energy savings.
