Systems Management Appliance Leader Receives Certification for Dell Server and Business Client Update Functionality
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – August 11, 2009 – KACE™, the leading systems management appliance company, today announced its award-winning KBOX™ family of systems management appliances has been certified by Dell (NASDAQ: DELL) for its update management capabilities through the Dell ISV Partner Program. KACE integrates with Dell™ PowerEdge™ Server and Business Client Update Service to now offer mutual customers the benefits of enhanced PC and server management, combined with the ease-of-use of the KBOX Systems Management Appliance.
The Dell ISV Partner Program enables leading systems management vendors to seamlessly integrate Dell platform functionality into their tools. KACE has demonstrated the ability to integrate Dell OpenManage systems management technology into the KBOX Systems Management Appliance to maximize the benefits of both well-known management solutions.

KACE customers are now able to subscribe to the Dell Business Client and Server Update Service. The most recent release of the Dell Business Client and Server Update catalogs are integrated and automatically downloaded through the KBOX appliance. KACE and Dell customers will also benefit from improved usability and automation through dynamic configuration policies and controls, minimizing the costs and resources associated with applying Dell systems updates. KBOX helps IT administrators track deployment of the latest Dell Update Packages, keeping Dell systems current with the latest Dell BIOS and driver updates.
Some of the new capabilities of the KBOX Systems Management Appliance include:
- The ability to easily define flexible scheduling policies, for example in applying critical updates immediately and limiting recommended updates to later maintenance windows;
- Dynamic policy enforcement as Dell systems are introduced into the production environment, automating the task of keeping the new systems up to date;
- Regular reporting of progress in updating systems compared to the desired Dell catalog versions and the status for the deployment policies gives easy visibility into the degree of compliance;
- Remote replication of Dell Update Packages so that systems are updated easily regardless of where they are located.
