OVAL is sponsored by the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to help organizations identify vulnerabilities and configuration issues on computer systems. The MITRE Corporation maintains OVAL and provides impartial technical guidance to the OVAL Board on all matters related to the ongoing development of OVAL.
