Windows 7- Feature This
More and more organizations are accelerating their plans for Windows 7 migrations, with many now not planning to wait until Service Pack 1 releases. As Windows 7 picks up steam, beyond the reasons of "better and more secure," what features does it actually deliver? And what are some of the pros and cons of each?
Just some of the new features of the new operating system include:
- DirectAccess- this technology allows remote users to access corporate computing resources without having to establish a VPN connection
- BitLocker- this security capability provides full drive encryption for lost or stolen computers, and with Windows 7, extends encryption to removable devices
- XP Mode- this feature enables users to run their XP operating system as a virtual machine alongside Windows 7, providing compatibility for XP only applications
All of these sound like great innovations, but are they all for you? Read more in this article in Processor Magazine, where Bob Kelly, KACE Senior Product Manager, helps you understand even more about new Windows 7 capabilities, details how they may or may not help small to midsized organizations, and offers some practical considerations to make in their implementation. Also, if you missed your chance to join our popular webinar 7 Steps to Windows 7 Migration Success - A Tutorial, it will be presented live again on February 2. Register here.
All helpful information, we hope.
