KACE acquired Computers in Motion in September of 2008. Focused on making applications easy to distribute and secure through application virtualization technologies, the Computers in Motion products and principal engineers form the foundation for a new product team at KACE. While application virtualization is still a relatively new technology, the speed of adoption has accelerated tremendously and industry experts are now forecasting that the technology will become the dominant deployment approach in less than a decade. On February 11, 2010 Dell Inc. and KACE announced that Dell intends to acquire KACE and its award winning Family of Systems Management Appliances. With the acquisition complete, all KACE employees have joined Dell, and KACE now operates as a new business unit within the Dell Consumer and Small and Medium Business (CSMB) division. The addition of KACE helps Dell to offer it's midsized and public sector customers with appliance-based solutions that are easy-to-use, comprehensive and affordable, as well as to strengthen its portfolio of systems management solutions. Dell's global presence and resources will enable KACE to broaden and accelerate its product plans and growth.
